Comfi has been informed that the telecommunications regulatory body in Morocco has activated a dialing plan change to all Moroccan numbers, effective Saturday, March 7, 2009.
Regulatory Agency Changes
• The Moroccan regulatory agency will require all calls to mobile numbers to dial an extra number after the country code "212". Today, all Moroccan mobile numbers are 9 digits and belong to the following dial codes:
+ 212 + 1XXXXXX + 212 + 7XXXXXX
+ 212 + 4XXXXXX + 212 + 8XXXXXX
+ 212 + 5XXXXXX + 212 + 9XXXXXX
+ 212 + 6XXXXXX
The mandate will change all Moroccan mobile numbers to 10 digits with the addition of a 6 after the country code to create the following new dial codes:
+ 212 + 6 + 1XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 7XXXXXX
+ 212 + 6 + 4XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 8XXXXXX
+ 212 + 6 + 5XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 9XXXXXX
+ 212 + 6 + 6XXXXXX
• The Moroccan regulatory agency will also require all calls to landline numbers to dial an extra number after the country code “212”. Today, all Moroccan landline numbers are 9 digits and belong to the following dial codes:
+ 212 + 2XXXXXX + 212 + 3XXXXXX
The mandate will change all Moroccan landline numbers to 10 digits with the addition of a 5 after the country code to create the following new dial codes:
+ 212 + 5 + 2XXXXXX + 212 + 5 + 3XXXXXX
